Does "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."? - Questions

We read that David Cameron wants to transform politics. He wants less power for the prime minister and more power for parliament, he wants less power for parliament and more power to the people... all fine words in an age of political crisis. But have we not heared these find words before from Magaret Thatcher in 1978 and Tony Blair in 1996, both of whom then went on to drag power away from Joe/Joella in the street to parliament, and then from Parliament to the prime minister. Even the latest incumbant Brown has more power than his predessesors put together.

the late, great, John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton, told us that "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."

was he right, will Cameron if elected
